Core Tokens

The Avant Protocol ecosystem is powered by a suite of tokens, each with a distinct purpose. This structure allows you to choose the underlying asset you wish to earn yield on.

The table below provides a quick overview and comparison of the entire token family, which is followed by detailed descriptions of each token.

Core Actions for Bridged Assets

Core protocol actions like staking and boosting can be initiated from supported chains in the Avant application. If cross-chain movement is required, the application routes it in-flow and tracks progress in the interface. If you are already on the asset's native chain, actions execute directly.

USD-Backed Tokens

avUSD

avUSD is the primary stable token of the Avant Protocol, acting as the entry point for USD-denominated yield. It receives no yield.

savUSD (Staked avUSD)

savUSD is the primary yield-bearing token for stablecoin depositors. It represents a senior, lower-risk position in the protocol's yield strategies.

avUSDx (avUSD Max)

avUSDx is an advanced option for users who want to take on higher risk for amplified returns.

  • How to get it: Users can boost avUSD on its native chain (Avalanche). The output can be sent to supported destination chains in-app, with routing handled automatically.

  • How to bridge it: Bridging is handled in-app across supported networks via Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero, with route selection and transfer status tracking in the interface.

  • How yield is boosted: The yield for avUSDx is sourced from the following mechanisms:

    • Baseline Yield: The Junior Tranche receives the base yield associated with its underlying strategy exposure.

    • Amplified Yield Share: It receives an additional 10% share of the total yield generated by all capital committed to the main avUSD strategy in the protocol.

    • Protocol Treasury Contributions: On rare occasions, the protocol treasury may contribute additional yield. This structure provides the potential for a higher yield over time. The exchange rate of avUSDx against avUSD is determined by the PriceStoragearrow-up-right contract.

  • Risk Profile: The Junior Tranche, avUSDx provides protection to savUSD holders. While offering a higher share of the yield, avUSDx holders also take on a higher level of risk. In the event of protocol losses, avUSDx acts as an additional protection layer for the protocol, absorbing losses after the protocol's Reserve Fund has been utilized.

  • Cooldown Period: Converting avUSDx back to avUSD requires a burn request, which initiates a one-week cooldown period. During the cooldown period, yield will no longer accrue and users will be exposed to any price downside, an event anticipated only under rare circumstances.

Bitcoin-Backed Tokens

avBTC

avBTC is a Bitcoin-pegged token that tracks the price of Bitcoin, providing a liquid, tokenized version of BTC on the Avalanche network.

What is BTC.b?

While many are familiar with WBTC, Avant Protocol uses BTC.b, which is a tokenized version of Bitcoin on the Avalanche C-Chain. You can learn more about the differences between BTC.b and WBTC herearrow-up-right.

savBTC (Staked avBTC)

savBTC is the yield-bearing counterpart to avBTC, allowing you to earn more Bitcoin over time.

  • How to get it: Users can stake avBTC on its native chain (Avalanche), or acquire savBTC through supported in-app buy/swap routes on supported chains where liquidity is available.

  • How to bridge it: Bridging is handled in-app across supported networks via Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero, with route selection and transfer status tracking in the interface.

  • How yield accrues: Similar to savUSD, savBTC accrues value as the protocol generates yield from its Bitcoin strategies. The amount of avBTC you can redeem savBTC for grows over time. This means you earn yield in the form of more Bitcoin.

  • Cooldown Period: Converting savBTC back to avBTC takes 1 day, and no yield is earned in this period.

avBTCx (avBTC Max)

avBTCx is an advanced option for users who want to take on higher risk for amplified returns on their Bitcoin holdings.

  • How to get it: Users can boost avBTC on its native chain (Avalanche). The output can be sent to supported destination chains in-app, with routing handled automatically.

  • How to bridge it: Bridging is handled in-app across supported networks via Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero, with route selection and transfer status tracking in the interface.

  • How yield is boosted: The yield for avBTCx is sourced from the following mechanisms:

    • Baseline Yield: The Junior Tranche receives the base yield associated with its underlying strategy exposure.

    • Amplified Yield Share: It receives an additional 10% share of the total yield generated by all capital committed to the main avBTC strategy in the protocol.

    • Protocol Treasury Contributions: On rare occasions, the protocol treasury may contribute additional yield. This structure provides the potential for a higher yield over time in BTC. The exchange rate of avBTCx against avBTC is determined by the PriceStoragearrow-up-right contract.

  • Risk Profile: As the Junior Tranche for the Bitcoin-backed assets, avBTCx provides protection to savBTC holders. In the event of protocol losses, avBTCx acts as an additional protection layer, absorbing losses after the protocol's Reserve Fund has been utilized.

  • Cooldown Period: Converting avBTCx back to avBTC requires a burn request, which initiates a one-week cooldown period. During the cooldown period, yield will no longer accrue and users will be exposed to any price downside, an event anticipated only under rare circumstances.

Ethereum-Backed Tokens

avETH

avETH is an Ethereum-pegged token that tracks the price of Ethereum, providing a liquid, tokenized version of ETH on both the Ethereum Mainnet and the Avalanche network.

savETH (Staked avETH)

savETH is the yield-bearing counterpart to avETH, allowing you to earn more Ethereum over time.

  • How to get it: Users can stake avETH on its native chain (Ethereum), or acquire savETH through supported in-app buy/swap routes on supported chains where liquidity is available.

  • How to bridge it: Bridging is handled in-app across supported networks via Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero, with route selection and transfer status tracking in the interface.

  • How yield accrues: Similar to savUSD, savETH accrues value as the protocol generates yield from its Ethereum strategies. The amount of avETH you can redeem savETH for grows over time. This means you earn yield in the form of more Ethereum.

  • Cooldown Period: Converting savETH back to avETH takes 1 day, and no yield is earned in this period.

avETHx (avETH Max)

avETHx is an advanced option for users who want to take on higher risk for amplified returns on their Ethereum holdings.

  • How to get it: Users can boost avETH on its native chain (Ethereum). The output can be sent to supported destination chains in-app, with routing handled automatically.

  • How to bridge it: Bridging is handled in-app across supported networks via Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero, with route selection and transfer status tracking in the interface.

  • How yield is boosted: The yield for avETHx is sourced from the following mechanisms:

    • Baseline Yield: The Junior Tranche receives the base yield associated with its underlying strategy exposure.

    • Amplified Yield Share: It receives an additional 10% share of the total yield generated by all capital committed to the main avETH strategy in the protocol.

    • Protocol Treasury Contributions: On rare occasions, the protocol treasury may contribute additional yield. This structure provides the potential for a higher yield over time in ETH. The exchange rate of avETHx against avETH is determined by the PriceStoragearrow-up-right contract.

  • Risk Profile: The Junior Tranche for the Ethereum-backed assets, avETHx provides protection to savETH holders. In the event of protocol losses, avETHx acts as an additional protection layer, absorbing losses after the protocol's Reserve Fund has been utilized.

  • Cooldown Period: Converting avETHx back to avETH requires a burn request, which initiates a one-week cooldown period. During the cooldown period, yield will no longer accrue and users will be exposed to any price downside, an event anticipated only under rare circumstances.
