Description

One specific channel renders a completely black/blank message area when opened. All other chats/channels work fine. The issue persists across reinstalls and full local data purges, confirming it's not a corrupted local cache.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Telegram for macOS (Swift client)
  2. Navigate to the affected channel
  3. Message area renders completely black — no messages visible

What I've tried

  • Reinstalled from App Store
  • Reinstalled from Homebrew (brew install --cask telegram)
  • Nuked all local data — deleted everything under:
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/6N38VWS5BX.ru.keepcoder.Telegram/
    • ~/Library/Caches/ru.keepcoder.Telegram/
    • ~/Library/Containers/ru.keepcoder.Telegram/
    • ~/Library/HTTPStorages/ru.keepcoder.Telegram/
    • ~/Library/WebKit/ru.keepcoder.Telegram/
  • Issue reappears immediately after fresh login and re-sync

Working clients

Client Works?
web.telegram.org ✅ Yes
iOS ✅ Yes
macOS Swift (App Store) ❌ No
macOS Swift (Homebrew) ❌ No

Additional info

  • No custom chat theme is set on the affected channel
  • The channel is a standard private channel with hundreds of subscribers
  • macOS Sequoia, Telegram 12.5/12.6
  • Since the issue survives a full data purge, something server-side in that channel's data triggers incorrect rendering specifically in the macOS Swift client

Additional quirk

The "Mute" button at the bottom of the affected chat is also unstyled — it appears without its normal grey background. However, hovering the mouse over it triggers a partial redraw and the bottom bar greys in. This suggests the theme/presentation is never applied to the chat view, affecting both the message area and the bottom toolbar.

Screenshots

The left panel shows the chat list (all chats load fine). The right panel for the affected channel is completely grey where messages should be.
